Citizen Summit for Wsis 2
by Wsis NetiZen on 2005, Novembre 12 - 10:04pm
Parallel to Wsis 2 in Tunisia, November 16 - 18:
The Citizens Summit is starting to take shape, in Tunis and here in Canada.
Here is the web space: www.citizens-summit.org
"...This citizen's summit on the information society will take place outside of the official Summit venue and
spaces, in the town of Tunis. The exact place is not known yet, but it will be
posted to the plenary during next week. Why? Because, the first venue has been
forbidden to us after confirmed registration and prepayment.
The information about location, as soon as it is confirmed, will also be posted
on the website www.citizens-summit.org.
It will be important that many civil society actors participate in this
citizen's forum. More about the aims and the reason of holding this event on
www.citizens-summit.org, but to say it briefly, the CSIS objectives are twofold:
- To send a strong message of support and solidarity from international civil
society to the local civil society and citizens;
- To address the main issues being debated at the WSIS, from the perspective of
citizen groups and the public.

=============================

eCommons/agora Wsis project will feature details, as they become available.
We will also announce Canadian parallel events and key witness accounts.
Canadians, please feel free to register, and log in here on the C2C site to post your comments, events, and share relevant links and resources with your fellow citizens online.
Some of us are closely watching the World Summit on the Information Society.
Keep your eyes on the prize:
Will the Millenium Development Goals (MDG) be advanced at Wsis 2?
Can Civil Society make its mark as a full stakeholder? Will CS members be allowed to speak and associate freely?
Will Wsis 2 be held in a climate of tolerance and respect for human rights, or will Wsis 2 turn into a meeting about the lack of tolerance and human rights in Tunisia, and in other Wsis 2 participating states?
Please help us stay tuned.
